Santa Maria del Mar is a gothic church in Barcelona, located in the quarter "El Borne" and was build between 1329 and 1383. The master builders were Berenguer de Montagut (the designer of the building) and Ramón Despuig.
This church is one of the most visited points of the city. One of the reasons is found in a novel written by Ildefonso Falcones, "The Cathedral of the Sea", which has been sold more than 1.000.000 times in a huge amount of different languages.
In the closer surrounding of the curch you can find many bars, shops and not far away the park "Parque de la Ciutadella".
